In addition to the field trip’s tour and learning expedition, students will participate in hands on activities which allow for a more in depth experience. The fee includes the field trip tour’s learning expedition and the classroom session

The First People: Native Americans in North America
Students work with clay to make a miniature pot using Native American pottery techniques from the midwest area.
Fossil and Dinosaur
Students make their own “fossil” and participate in a hands-on group exploration of fossil “time capsules” to determine which time period they are in.
Windows to Wilderness
This workshop includes a hands-on group activity with “habitat clue boxes” where students have to determine which animals left behind the clues in their boxes. Students also paint a cast while discussing, coloring and camouflage as a survival technique.
Archaeology workshop (grades 5 – 12, *2 groups maximum)
This workshop includes hands-on group work with real Native American artifacts.
Project Clear is a hands-on field trip available from March through October for grades 6 – 12. The program gives students the opportunity to evaluate the Rock River by collecting water samples and macro-invertebrates from the river, then using the riverside Aqua-Aerobic Systems Water lab, they identify and analyze the samples to determine the health of the river.
Fee: High School $12.00 per student
Time: 3 hours
Minimum: 15 students or $180.00

Chaperones: one required for every 10 students (no fee)
Activities: chemical testing, macro invertebrates, Micro organisms, bacteria counts
Middle School: $11.00 per student
Time: 2 &½ hours
Minimum: 15 students or $165.00
