Volunteers make the difference! As a volunteer, you are giving Burpee the gift of your time and talent. Whether you're filing paperwork, working with the collections, or assisting visitors, you become an integral part of what makes Burpee a great place to discover.

Administration

Office Assistant
Hours: 6–20 weekly
This volunteer position requires a willingness to provide support for multiple members of the Museum's administrative staff. A qualified candidate would possess a broad range of clerical skills and an interest in the following departments:  Marketing, Development, Accounting, Information Technology, and Management.

IT Technician Internship
Hours: 8 –20 weekly
IT Manager seeks Computer Science major to assist with PC repairs and diagnostics. Knowledge of Windows XP, Access, Word, Excel, Publisher and Outlook a must. Exposure to Windows NT Server, Windows Server 2002 and 2003, Microsoft Exchange 5.5+, and Macintosh operating systems very helpful. Experience with virus prevention and PC upgrades a plus.

Education

 

Temporary Exhibits
Hours: 1-5pm at least one afternoon a week
Volunteers are needed to help with traffic controll and provide hands-on learning experiences for Museum visitors in Burpee's new Woodward Hall. Volunteers should be friendly, outgoing, eager to learn, and enjoy working with children and families. Training provided.

Live Animal Care
Hours: 23 weekly. Must commit to a regular day and time, one day a week (Monday, Wednesday and/or Friday)
Wanted! Reliable, responsible individuals to assist museum staff with the maintenance of our live animals (reptiles, amphibians, insects). Candidates should have experience and/or serious interest in caring for live animals on a regular schedule. This opening also presents the opportunity for interested individuals to develop independent study based upon the animals. Training provided, ages 16 and up.
