In the summer our prairie is full of color. Look for
coneflower, butterfly weed, asters and many others! |

By late summer many of the flowers are gone,
but all kinds of seed pods have appeared. |

We're working on introducing prairie plants into our parking
lot. They are hardy, colorful, and easy to maintain. |

We're not the only ones who enjoy the Museum grounds!
Squirrels, rabbits, birds, snakes, and many other animals share
this habitat with us. |

This red-tailed hawk has made many appearances on the Burpee
grounds. On this day he sat patiently on a picnic table
stalking his prey, scroll over the image to see what he
caught! |

Just a week later he was spotted again perched on the rooftop
overlooking our prairie. What do you think he was watching? A
group of sparrows chased him away before we found out. |

When you come to the Burpee, keep your eyes open--you never
know when he'll pop up again! |
