Children's Gallery

Welcome to the Children's Gallery!
On the Museum's third floor you'll find a special
place for children and families to explore! Filled with all the tools kids need to discover the natural world, the Gallery is the perfect place to spend a day
together.
Children's Gallery Winter Hours:
Wednesday, Thursday: 12–3:40 pm
There's something for everyone in the Gallery. The
room is casually divided into different areas—each with their own focus. Shelves
of books beg to be read. Microscopes and magnifying glasses invite visitors to
take a closer look at the world around them. Craft materials await creative
minds. Puppets, costumes, and games encourage dramatic play and family
interaction. And live animals—including turtles, a lizard, salamander, and
more—provide an up-close observation opportunity.
There are no “Don’t Touch” signs here. Instead
touchable objects and hands-on activities introduce children to the natural
world in a way that is fun, involved, and exciting! |

What do you collect?
If you have a collection that you'd like to share, we'd love to display it!
There are some special cases in the Gallery just for kids. Every exhibitor
receives a certificate. Right now, we're displaying a collection of cars by Torin Palmer, rocks by Calvin and Calista Huys,
and Lego creations by Brent Blaesing.
Cases can be reserved for
one month. To request
a case or for more information, call Molly Holman at 815.965.3433 x1027 or stop
by the desk in the Gallery. |

I pity the fool... who doesn't come to the Gallery!
