70th Anniversary Lecture series in Memory of Steve Ellis: Burpee’s Paleo Expeditions, An Overview of Jurassic Journey and Highway to Hell Creek – Scott Williams
For over a decade, Burpee Museum has been conducting paleontological groundbreaking field work in the western United States. This exciting chapter in Burpee’s history has led to major discoveries like: Jane, the world’s most complete juvenile Tyrannosaurus rex; Homer and the first Triceratops bone bed; and one of the largest dinosaur graveyards found in the last 40 years, the Hanksville-Burpee Quarry. Burpee’s expedition leader, Scott Williams will take you back to the initial discoveries, reconstruct the paleoenvironments of the late Jurassic and latest Cretaceous time periods, update you with Burpee’s ongoing research and introduce you to the most recent . Recommended for middle school age and up

Call for Abstracts:Those wishing to submit an abstract for consideration for a presentation should email an abstract to Dr. Bruce Rothschild at Kansas University (BMR@KU.edu). Abstracts should follow the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology format.
Abstract Deadline is March 15th, 2012.
Registration paperwork and fees will be due April 12, 2012.

Rick Nielsen to make appearance at RiverHawks game May 27 to benefit Burpee Museum
Cheap Trick guitarist Rick Nielsen will be on hand Sunday, May 27 as the RiverHawks take on the Lake Erie Crushers at 3:05 pm at RiverHawks Stadium.
The RiverHawks have partnered with the Burpee Museum of Natural History to bring the rocker out to the game and help to raise money for the museum.
Burpee Museum has a block of tickets - just call the Riverhawks numer (815) 885-2255.

This is your opportunity to join the team that discovered and excavated Burpee's T. rex Jane and Homer - a juvenile Triceratops. In Utah's Morrison Formation you will work on excavating some of the largest dinosaur bones Burpee has ever collected. Whether you're a seasoned paleontologist or just curious about the past, this trip will be an experience to remember. If you are not sure if this is for you, come to one of our Orientation Sessions to hear more. Open to ages 18+
